Technology Integration

Our online graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is committed to integrating the newest and most innovative counselor preparation technologies to ensure our students receive a practical and holistic education. We emphasize the importance of hands-on experience, as evidenced by our commitment to practical skills practice in every class, every week, within an asynchronous learning environment. Just as you cannot learn to play the piano by reading a book, we believe practical counseling skills can only be developed through consistent and practical application. To support this, we introduce our students to cutting-edge platforms such as Skillsetter, Symptom Media, and Supervision Assist. These tools provide interactive simulations, realistic clinical training videos, and seamless supervision support, ensuring our students are well-prepared for professional practice and licensure after graduation.

SKILLSETTER

Skillsetter is an innovative educational software designed to enhance the learning experience for students in our online Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program. By integrating Skillsetter into our curriculum, we provide students with an interactive platform that simulates real-world counseling scenarios, allowing them to practice and refine their skills in a controlled, supportive environment. Through this tool, faculty offer clinical feedback, helping students identify both strengths and opportunities for improvement and track their progress over time. Utilizing Skillsetter ensures our graduates are well-prepared for the complexities of professional counseling, equipped with practical experience and confidence to make a meaningful impact in their future careers.

SYMPTOM MEDIA

Symptom Media is a dynamic educational platform that offers an extensive library of clinical training videos focused on mental health symptoms and disorders. In our online MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, we leverage Symptom Media to provide students with realistic portrayals of various psychiatric conditions, enhancing their diagnostic skills and clinical understanding. These high-quality, professionally produced videos serve as a valuable supplement to our theoretical coursework, allowing students to observe and analyze real-life scenarios. By incorporating Symptom Media into our curriculum, we ensure that our students are exposed to diverse cases and are better prepared to recognize and address a wide range of mental health issues in their professional practice.

SUPERVISION ASSIST

Supervision Assist is a comprehensive platform designed to support students’ practicum and internship experiences in our online Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program. This software facilitates seamless communication and collaboration between students, supervisors, and faculty, ensuring that all parties are engaged and informed throughout the clinical training process. With Supervision Assist, students can easily log and track their clinical hours, document their experiences, and receive timely supervisor feedback. The platform also includes a HIPAA-compliant video system, enabling secure and confidential virtual supervision sessions. This platform not only supports the immediate needs of our students during their practicum and internship but also provides ongoing access to their logged hours after graduation, which is crucial for licensure applications. By integrating Supervision Assist into our program, we enhance the quality of supervision and ensure our students are well-prepared for professional practice.

AATBS NCE Test Prep

Our clinical mental health counseling program partners with AATBS (Association for Advanced Training in the Behavioral Sciences) to provide comprehensive NCE (National Counselor Examination) test preparation from the very first class. The AATBS NCE test prep program is renowned for its rigorous and thorough approach, designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel on the exam. By integrating AATBS resources into our curriculum, students will receive continuous exposure to exam content, practice questions, and test-taking strategies. This ensures that, throughout their studies, they build a solid foundation and progressively enhance their readiness for the NCE, positioning them for success in obtaining licensure upon graduation.
