The successful candidate will serve as a core counselor education program faculty member who is responsible for effective online teaching, advising, and professional activity in the field of counseling (sustained memberships in counseling associations, maintenance of certifications and/or licenses in counseling, sustained professional development, and service to the profession). Teaching responsibilities will include ten courses over the academic year (fall, spring, and summer terms). Our program has three 15-week terms with two 7-week sessions within each. TCNJ has a strong commitment to inclusive excellence in our community and to supporting a healthy work-life balance for our faculty. Candidates should be strongly committed to high-quality online teaching and to fostering success for all students. Clinical Specialists will be expected to join a community committed to exploration and growth in pedagogical practices. TCNJ supports its community of teacher-scholars and practitioners through a range of internal grant programs, professional travel, engaging professional development programs, and other mechanisms. These intentional efforts support the recruitment, retention, and success of our faculty, particularly those from groups traditionally underrepresented in academe.

All clinical specialists can be remote and live anywhere in the United States. The tenure track position will be required to relocate to the NJ geographic area, as service requirements for tenure involve on-campus engagement. TCNJ is conveniently located halfway between Philadelphia and New York City. Many faculty live in both of these communities. Others choose to live in some quaint river towns near our campus, such as New Hope, PA, and Lambertville, NJ.

Lastly, New Jersey is a very family-friendly place to work. As faculty at TCNJ, you will be a NJ state employee, which means generous maternity leave and optional (and generous) bonding leave. Learn more about these benefits.

Adjunct Faculty Positions

If you are faculty at another institution and interested in teaching as adjunct faculty with us, we would love to read your application. We are interested in faculty who are experienced in teaching online, and our program requires that all faculty also be actively practicing counselors (supervision does not count).
